Hey Guys ... How have you all been? Aren't you looking forward for the weekend.. trust me I am literally counting days, I so want to relax and chill may be near beach side, had a lot on my plate this week, but I am glad I got it all done. So ..it's time to relax now ;).
This blog is my personal favourite, it's all about one of the most beautiful Handloom Clothing brand for Women - UNNATI SILKS. Just a small brief about this beautiful brand for those who are not aware and for those who never knew so much in detail about this beautiful brand.
All About Unnati Silks:
Like my title says - Unnati Silks is a saga of 'HANDLOOMS FOR WOMEN' that began in 1980. Three decades hence it has transformed from a single shop entity to become a family enterprise with extended arms and global operations. Customer - Centric that it is, Unnati Silks anticipates, innovates and provides with a strong belief that each and every customer is special and requires that something, which is unique, refreshing, fashionable and of quality.
An experience of three decades plus in silk and cotton textiles Unnati has carved out a niche presence for itself in being the manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer and exporter of genuine silk cotton handlooms like sarees, salwar suits, kurtas, kurtis and other Indian ethnic fabrics. This has thereby created for it, a sizable domestic market from across the country and overseas.
Having a product range that is as varied as it is vast, handwoven and handcrafted, the devotion and dedication of talented ethnic artisans from across 21 states of India comes through in the products on display. Having the Handloom Mark and Silk Mark for most of its products, Unnati's customers are assured a legitimate backing too, despite being guaranteed original handloom products from the start.
Isn't it great , so much goes behind to create that Brand Name, and Unnati Silks has earned it for themselves. Best Quality, Value for Money, Service to its customers.
The range of products offered are amazing, and worth checking out, Sharing the link below: -
Though each and every product is amazing , but my personal favourite is this Yellow Kota Cotton block printed Sari , it so beautiful, and adds a touch of elegance to any women look. I have wrapped the sari in two different ways, before showing the looks , i wish to highlight the history of Kota Cotton Sari so you all know from where and how this beautiful sari originated.
Kota Cotton Sari History :
Kota Cotton sari of Unnati Silks is basically from city name Kota which is one of the large districts of Rajasthan, lies south of Jaipur, the capital city of the state. The district is bound on the north and north west by the districts of Sawai Madhopur, Tonk and Bundi and separated from them by the river Chambal. Kota city lies on the eastern bank of this river.
The Kota Doria collection of Unnati Silks
The Kota Cotton Saree is translucent muslin, much preferred for its light weight, softness and airy comfort. Pure Cotton with golden Zari threads woven in square patterns is a popular variety. Variations in borders and a whole array of bright colours and shades like pink, blue, saffron, orange etc. applied to traditional prints and beautiful embroidery work create stunning effects. A most delightful and refreshing change is the Rajasthani Kota Saree woven by coarse cotton or golden threads with zari border and is much-preferred wear for daily casual, corporate offices, colleges and family get-togethers.
Stylish block floral or geometrical prints on the kota cotton sari with zari temple border is lovely attire for corporate conferences, college meetings and traditional occasions. Designer Kota Supernet Saree adorned by zari flower work and having a zari brocade border with an elegant pallu is apt for weddings, bridal attire, corporate office parties, college events.
The Masuria Silks are grand affairs since pure silk, gold and silver threads or Zari are used in the weaving. A famous example is that of the Katan Pure Silk Weaves. Beautiful Jaipuri prints, with traditional motifs, fancy zari or printed borders, exquisite embroidery work on the pallu, make the ethnic Kota Saree an exclusive must-have. Other worthy creations are the designer Kota Katan Silk Saree richly woven in Meena work and with suitable accompaniments and the Dabu block prints on Stylish Kota Sari for formal conferences and meets and not so formal occasions like college events and daily casual.
Experiments with the exotic
Soft, ‘sherbeti’ colours with pure and tested zari borders, jewel tones, silk cottons and cotton saris with dramatic broad borders form part of the evening wear collection. Festive wear saris include floral and vine motifs woven all-over in gentle colours, enormous gold amris woven on border and pallu as well as alternate stripes of gold and silver on borders. Pure silk tissues in lovely yellows and greens, deep blue and vibrant yellow saris with dramatic pallus and borders in zari are other saris displayed along with designer duppattas and stoles.
Kota Dorias are handlooms of Rajasthan that need no introduction. At Unati Silks they are further backed by Handloom Mark and Silk Mark certifications from the Govt. of India that assure the genuineness of the products.
The special sarees of Kota – the Kotadorias
Kota is known for its fine translucent muslins called Masuria Malmal. Originally, such saris were called Masuria because they were woven in Mysore. The weavers were subsequently brought to Kota by Rao Kishore Singh who was a general in the Mughal army. The weavers were brought to Kota in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, and the saris came to be known as 'Kota-Masuria'. Kota saris are popularly known as 'Masuria' in Kota and Kota Doria outside the state. 'Doria' means thread. Weaving in Kota was started by Maharana Bhimdeo in the 18th century. Maharaja Bhim Singh of Kota brought some weavers from the Deccan in the early 18th Century and the craft blossomed under the royal patronage.
The making of the Kota Doria
The Saree woven on a traditional pit loom is in a manner designed to produce check patterns on the fabric. The square shaped checks known as Khats, are smeared with onion juice and rice paste with care to make the yarn strong and durable. The Kota Doria weave employs the warp and the weft in a special combination of cotton and silk threads. Each cotton thread followed by a few fine silk threads, is again followed by a cotton thread, creating an extremely fine chequered pattern. While the cotton threads provide the binding strength, the silk threads together lend lustre to the fabric. The standard Kota Doria Saree is woven in white and later dyed in different colours. In the case of saris with designs, the threads are dyed prior to weaving.
For the sake of economy, the weavers take up to three Sarees of the same design at a time, the setting-up of the threads being both, complicated and time-consuming. Normally taking up to a day, more complicated the design, more the time taken for setting-up. It takes close to a week to complete three saris in the basic pattern.
My Personal Say/Experience :
I loved everything about Unnati Silk and their Products, the Kota cotton handloom block printed sari which i have worn is so beautiful , light weighed and comfortable, it added the elegance to my look. The block printed work is so fine and is done so evenly across the sari. I personally don't like wear much of saris as its difficult to manage and carry lot of discomfort , unlike Unnati silk sari which made me fall in love with saris all over again. Unnati silk Kota saris is a must have in all the women's wardrobe, and its apt for any kind of occasions and even can be worn on day to day bases at home or even at work.
